President Kutesa met with H.E. Mr. Ramtane Lamamra, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Algeria. President Kutesa and Minister Lamamra discussed important issues on the agenda of the 69th session such as the Post-2015 Development Agenda and the Third Conference on Financing for Development (FfD) to be held from 13 to 16 July in Addis Ababa. They also addressed the importance of building a strong momentum leading to the Climate Change Paris summit in December.

The number of refugees fleeing the raging conflict in South Sudan into Uganda has increased to 40,000.


The Uganda Red Cross and international relief agencies said the number of Sudanese crossing to Uganda daily by road in the West Nile districts of Adjumani and Arua is worrying and has strained available relief support, with a disturbing probability of the current figures reaching 100,000 by February.

Dual citizenship negates one's loyalty

The Uganda Citizenship and Immigration Control (Amendment) Act, 2009 provides for dual citizenship. Dual citizenship, according to the Act, means the simultaneous possession of two citizenships one of which is Ugandan.
